Tabemasho 2021: A Center Celebration

Virtual Tabemasho 2021
35th Anniversary of the Opening of the Center
“Celebrating the People of Our Community”

Saturday, October 16, 2021
4:00pm and 6:00pm showings

Please join our virtual celebration of the 35 Years since Opening Doors to the community. The opening of the Center was  dream come true from the Nisei, who helped build it for the benefit of future generations of our community. The story of the Center is not only about a building. It is about the people of our community that make it so special.

This year the Center celebrates the 35th anniversary of our opening. On May 18, 1986, the Center opened its doors for the first time, and a new chapter in the Japanese American community began. To commemorate our 35th anniversary, we will honor the many individuals that make our community a special place.

Our virtual program will feature a photo slideshow of community heroes nominated by our community and corporate sponsors. Our anniversary program will also feature a photo segment called Then and Now, an old-time look at some familiar faces in Japantown. Our event will conclude with a special tribute to our longtime Executive Assistant, Marjorie Fletcher, who will retire this year.
