Udon Noodle Making Workshop
with Japanese cooking instructor Kenji Yokoo

We’re very excited to present our first cooking workshop with our newest cooking instructor at the Center, Kenji Yokoo, with an udon noodle making workshop! In this hands-on class you will learn to make udon noodles from scratch, using techniques that have been used for generations in Japanese kitchens. Japanese home cooks actually knead udon noodle dough with their feet due to the toughness of the dough, although Kenji will be adapting the class to a very hygienic process using sealed bags to knead the dough! You will also learn how to make udon broth and various toppings (including vegetarian/vegan options). At the end of the class we will eat what we’ve created.

About Kenji Yokoo

Kenji was born and raised in southern rural Japan and has been passionate about cooking from a very young age. As is common in Japan, he grew up in a home with three generations and spent every minute that he could with his grandmother in the kitchen, who taught him everything he knows about cooking. Kenji learned from her not just cooking techniques and the importance of using seasonal ingredients, but that also that the purpose of cooking is to bring joy to the people that you are cooking for. He has been teaching home cooking part time for over 20 years and recently decided to start his own business following his passion.
