CREATING YOUTH LEADERSHIP THROUGH CULTURAL EXCHANGE

Takahashi Youth Ambassador Fellowship Program (TYAFP)

 

It is often said experience is the best teacher. And what better opportunity to learn about Japan, its history, culture, people and society, than traveling to Japan to experience it first-hand as an international citizen ambassador. The Takahashi Youth Ambassador Fellowship Program was created for youth aged 14-17 to also develop leadership and civic skills that will assist them in the future educational and career endeavors, as well as develop an appreciation and understanding of citizen-action and involvement through community and international volunteerism. more...

 

Nikkei Youth Cultural Heritage Program

The Nikkei Youth Cultural Heritage Program, in cooperation with the Kobe YMCA Language Program (Hyogo Prefecture, Japan) is designed for participants to gain a better understanding of their cultural heritage and discover Japan in a unique and exciting way.  This Program will allow participants to immerse themselves in Japanese culture through Japanese language and writing classes; attend introductory classes in traditional Japanese art forms; late afternoon and Saturday excursions exploring different parts of the Kansai region; all while having the opportunity to use and practice their Japanese language skills on a daily basis with their homestay family. more...

Sports, Art and Dance Campskids crafts

Fostering skills and confidence and providing an outlet for young people's self-expression is a key mission of JCCCNC. It is critical to keep our youth active, thinking and driven to encourage growth in more ways than one.   In addition to ongoing classes, JCCCNC hosts art, music, dance and sports camps during spring, summer and winter breaks. Students learn a new set of skills through cooperation and teamwork, and actively create and discover in a fun and safe environment.

Shinzen: Nikkei Youth Goodwill Sports Program

Shinzen in Japanese means international goodwill or amity. This annual cross-cultural exchange program seeks to promote the values of fair play and competition, while fostering ties between the Japanese and Japanese American communities. more...

Nikkei Youth Sports Scholarship (NYSS)

The Nikkei Youth Sports Scholarship (NYSS) is as an avenue whereby the JCCCNC can help develop future leaders of our community by providing financial aid for graduating high school senior students who plan on attending a community college or university.  As of 2007, we are no longer offering the NYSS.
