Francis Wong performing at Soko Arts 2004Performing Arts

The JCCCNC supports local community performing artists in presenting their talents to the community in events and productions throughout the year. All of our instructors are dedicated in preserving the history and culture of the art they teach, and are always delighted to be able to present their art to the Japantown community, as well as expose their artistry to others through performances and events throughout the world.

One of the JCCCNC’s premiere performing arts events is the annual Soko Art Festival, a theatrical production that began in June 2001. This gathering of talented artists is a mix of traditional Japanese and contemporary music, dance, spoken word, theatre and comedy.

Soko Arts 2004Soko Arts provides a revitalization of the arts in the community. Soko Arts gives artists the opportunity to acknowledge their heritage, culture, and to recognize their role in the community. It is their hope to develop support for community arts and artist through their annual production.
