Washi Ningyo Beginner’s Workshop

Discover the art of Japanese paper doll making at the Center’s Washi Ningyo beginner workshop.  Learn the step by step process in creating a three dimensional doll using traditional Japanese washi paper.  These hand crafted figures make great gifts for many occasions or use it to display around your home or office.  In the workshop you will:

  • Learn how to make a face from a little cotton and thin rice paper
  • Learn how to assemble the key parts of a figure such as the face and hair
  • Learn how to fold kimono paper and make an Obi (sash)
