Magewappa are handcrafted wooden food containers, renown for their ability to keep cooked rice delicious even after cooling by the natural absorption of moisture into the wood. The aroma of Japanese cedar wood from Akita Prefecture increases ones appetite for the food stored within, while the antiseptic effect of the cedar helps preserve the cooked rice at room temperature overnight and throughout the next day.

Join Shibata Yoshinobu Shouten, coming to the JCCCNC directly from Odate in Akita Prefecture in Japan, as he shares his skills behind the handicraft of manufacturing magewappa. Magewappa make for not only a useful household item, but a unique handcrafted cultural gift in time for the holidays!
