Camp in Utah.

along the street in Oakland, a sailor grabbed my arm and asked,
"Are you a Jap?" I answered "No" and broke away
and and ran like hell. On December 7th, I was in the Roxy Theater.
Walking home I heard the newspaper boys yelling, "Extra, extra,
japs bomb Pearl Harbor." I didn't know where Pearl harbor was,
but I felt shame, betrayal, and fear. During one of the first blackouts,
someone threw a billiard ball through the plate glass window of
